While fashion is typically associated with all things girly and feminine, the truth of the industry is that it’s largely male dominated. As of 2025, most of the creative directors of the big fashion houses are men, and according to the research of 1 Granary, women make up 74% of fashion school graduates but only 12% of directors. Women are dominating when it comes to modeling, influencing, being customers or having low to mid-tier positions, but are largely under represented at leading spots.
It’s therefore refreshing to see women running fashion brands. It’s not only about seeing them win against the odds, but female fashion creatives have a unique sensibility, and when women design for women the understanding they have for what they want to wear and how they want to be perceived through their wardrobe choices shitfs. Emma Postma and Saga Peterson, the creative duo behind Berlin-based brand Madomorpho, embody this design philosophy through their releases.

The brand presented their S/S 26 collection titled The Resort with a brunch at their showroom in the German capital. Swaying away from the conventional runway format, the presentation felt more like a meeting of friends sharing their passion for fashion and exquisite mimosas rather than a rigid showcase, and Emma and Saga chatted with press, buyers and fands of the brand alike in a relaxed setting that made the collection much easier to understand and enjoy.

Silk is a frequent fabric for the brand, and with The Resort it was no exception. Embellished tops and corsets in dreamy hues of violet blue and sumptuous green, boots that could’ve perfectly fit in the wardrobe of Elizabeth Swann (for those who might be lost, that is Keira Knightley’s badass character in Pirates of the Caribbean), and robes that felt like halfway between sensual mermaid and queen of the sea bandits completed the luxury vibe the collection intended to evoke.
The White Lotus, tropical paradises and their myriad of guests were the main inspiration behind The Resort. As explained by Emma, “We are really inspired by theatrical elements. As the summer was coming we felt we wanted to go to the resorts with our work, so we started creating all these characters on a cruise ship, like the spoiled brats coming out of their bedrooms and so on. It’s a bit campy, a bit like a joke, but also very serious in terms of how we work.”
This seriousness translates into the care put on each garment created by Madomorpho. “We want to move into a direction of how people is addressed by what we do.” For the brand feedback from both clients and fellow creators is crucial to refine what they offer to the public and to create a community of like-minded individuals. “We are always very actively looking for people to talk to and share our experiences with, for example to know about [sewing] factories.”
And when asked who is the ideal public figure that fits the Madomorpho universe, the answer is very straightforward: “Chappell Roan. It would be amazing to dress her, it may happen. I hope it does.” The pop phenomenom embodies Madomorpho’s idea of beauty to a T. “It’s like being one of the bad guys but you can still love them, with a very strong confidence in who you are and what you are.”
